ISSUE #1 / JULY 2020
It's been a crazy five months since March 6, 2020. We are all trying to get used to the new normal. We creative types are used to the aloneness that marks the days. Reaching out to friends and family virtually, is a good way to stay in touch and to keep us all safe. I wear a mask every time I step outside. I'm happy to see so many of my colleagues and fellow earth travelers wearing the new apparel to help keep us all safe.
I have to confess, it's been fits and starts since this world has changed. I don't even want to say the name of the pandemic, to not give it energy. We are each finding our way through this. A very special exhibition of mine closed right after it opened on March 6. It took four months to get all the work back to the project space. Since then, I've been working on a very large canvas and smaller ones. The muses and I have been playing hide and seek. Time slows down and speeds up at the same time. How to cope with the confusion?
I've found that intention is a powerful motivator. It's in recognizing things in life to be grateful for that we can stay in love. Daily gratitude brings us back to the present moment. If we live in the Now, which is really all there is, then we begin to heal ourselves. This is a good time for introspection to look at how we operate in the world. Is it sustainable? How do we re-envision ourselves and our world? A baby step at a time.
Be kind. Listen. Love. Life is a miracle. Give it the attention it deserves.
